Alabama football could be without its starting left guard for the long term.
After Alabama's 31-20 win against Texas A&M Saturday, Oct. 24 at Bryant-Denny Stadium, Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer said Sanders, who left the game in the second quarter, could be out for an extended period of time with a lower-extremity injury.
"He's probably the one guy that could be out for a little bit," DeBoer said. "So we'll kind of see. We'll know more tomorrow for sure, but maybe not a week or two. It could be a couple more than that."
Sanders was seen with a boot on his right foot on the sideline. He walked with crutches off the field after the win.
What's next for Alabama OL after William Sanders injury?
Immediately, Kaden Strayhorn was the first man off the bench for the Crimson Tide at left guard.
Mal Waldrep Jr. is Alabama's likely go-to left guard, taking reps when Sanders had been sidelined against Kentucky and left during the South Carolina win. Waldrep is working as Alabama's center with Racin Delgatty sidelined for the past two weeks with a lower-extremity injury.
DeBoer said he is optimistic to get "a lot of guys" back for Alabama's road game against LSU Saturday, Nov. 7 after the idle week.
