Local sources in Bamyan have reported an armed attack targeting the security official of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) office in the province.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Thursday, October 22, that the vehicle carrying Karim Karimi, UNAMA’s security official in Bamyan, came under gunfire in the provincial capital on Wednesday.
According to the sources, Karimi was unharmed in the incident.
The attack comes a week after the National Resistance Front and the Afghanistan Freedom Front issued a joint statement warning of possible organized attacks against diplomatic missions and international organizations in Afghanistan.
The two fronts called for an independent investigation into the threats.
The statement said that, based on intelligence received, individuals linked to the Taliban’s security structures and extremist networks might be planning attacks against international organizations.
