The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) took control of five commercial plazas in Mouza Malpur along Murree Road on Friday evening as part of a campaign to recover allegedly encroached state land.
The operation, which involved the CDA Enforcement Directorate and Islamabad Police, targets 108 kanals of government land that officials say people have occupied over the past two decades. A survey identified two fuel stations, nine commercial plazas, 25 houses and two warehouses on the disputed land.
Officials launched the drive after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed Islamabad’s chief commissioner and CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf to enforce anti-encroachment laws uniformly.
A revenue review found suspected discrepancies in ownership documents. According to officials, some people used records linked to different khasra numbers in neighboring Mouza Kot Hathial to claim properties in Mouza Malpur.
A document verification camp found cases in which sale deeds reportedly described land about 1.5 kilometers from the occupied properties. Authorities are preparing legal proceedings, including FIRs over alleged fraudulent land transactions.
Officials also reported that someone sold one plaza for Rs. 5 crore just five months ago. CDA Deputy Director General Enforcement Dr. Anum Fatima said the authority would take action against all unlawful occupants.
She added that officials would challenge court-issued stay orders through the relevant legal process while respecting judicial directions. The ICT Administration and CDA said the recovery campaign would continue based on verified revenue records and legal procedures.
