Ondo state Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has inaugurated the state Presidential Election Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC), charging party leaders and members to unite and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aiyedatiwa, who will chair the campaign council, described the inauguration of the council, directorates and sub-committees as a strategic step towards securing victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Addressing the council Monday in Akure, he stated that unity and coalition-building, which helped the APC secure power in 2015, remained critical to the party’s electoral success, warning that its status as Nigeria’s and Africa’s largest political party would not automatically translate into victory without internal cohesion.
The governor said the 2027 elections would involve contests for the presidency, Senate, House of Representatives and state Houses of Assembly, while urging party members to work collectively to secure victory at all levels.
He said retaining political power is essential to protecting the interests of party members and their communities.
