Whitby Walks
As the birthplace of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Whitby is one of the spookiest places in Yorkshire. Visitors can join a 75-minute ghost walk with Whitby Walks, scurrying in the footsteps of Dr Crank as he spins tales of the Whitby Witches and Headless Horseman. Adult tickets cost £7, and Whitby Walks announces dates via its website.
Otley Ghost Tour
Don’t be fooled by the quaint town centre. This Yorkshire market town has some spooky stories to tell, with visitors paying £12 to join the regular Otley Ghost Tour. The one-hour tour includes the Black Bull Inn, which Cromwellian troops are said to have “drunk dry” in 1644. Alleged to be one of the most haunted pubs in Yorkshire, it is somewhere you can bravely return to for a pint afterwards.
Haunted Haworth
Thick mist above cobbled streets is the classic image of Haworth. Known for the Brontë sisters, the town is also shrouded in ghost tales. Join Haunted Haworth and discover its spookiest stories, including the Weeping Woman behind the Black Bull Inn. Adult tickets cost £10.
The Black Widow: Dark Tales of Murder, Crime, and the Paranormal
For all Scarborough’s beaches and ice cream, there is a darker side to this coastal Yorkshire haunt. Following ‘The Black Widow’, learn about its darkest history, from grisly murders to supernatural hauntings. Adult tickets cost £11.
Haunted Happenings
Not for the faint-hearted, Haunted Happenings takes guests inside paranormal hotspots across Yorkshire. Tours include Bolling Hall in Bradford and 30 East Drive in Pontefract, nicknamed ‘The Poltergeist House’. The bravest attendees are sometimes invited to camp overnight.
