The power distributor issued the notice on Thursday evening, listing the specific areas that would be affected during the eight-hour window.
Planned outage details
The interruptions are set to begin at 9am and conclude at 5pm. Kenya Power described the shutdown as part of routine network maintenance work rather than an emergency response.
The outages will affect areas spread across five counties, with Nairobi and Nyeri among those listed. Residents and businesses in the named localities are advised to make alternative arrangements for the duration of the maintenance period.
Kenya Power regularly carries out such planned interruptions to upgrade and repair sections of the national electricity grid. The utility typically publishes advance notices to allow affected customers to prepare ahead of the downtime.

EPRA electricity consumption per region
Kenya’s electricity consumption in the financial year ending June 2026 saw the Nairobi region lead in both share and growth across all eight regions.
Although South Nyanza used the least electricity, consumption there rose fastest, climbing 17.93% after a major transmission line improved supply.
