The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cleared Bashir Abdullahi Gaddafi to contest the fresh Akko Federal Constituency primary election scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026.
In a statement issued to newsmen, the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Keftin Amuga, said a fresh primary election for the nomination of the party’s candidate for the Akko Federal Constituency of Gombe State, will be held on Friday, October 16.
Daily Trust reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Gombe had on Friday, October 9, nullified the election of Gaddafi as ADC’s candidate for Akko Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
The court, presided over by Justice Vera E. Ibrahim, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh primary election for the constituency within 21 days.
The ruling followed a suit filed by Adamu Hassan Kashere, who challenged Gaddafi’s emergence as the ADC candidate, alleging that no primary election was conducted across the wards in Akko Federal Constituency.
The court, however, acknowledged that Gaddafi was a registered member of the ADC and was eligible to contest in the party’s primary election.
In the statement, Amuga notified the general public, party members, stakeholders that the exercise is being conducted in compliance with the judgment of the Federal High Court, Gombe, in Suit No. FHC/GM/CS/6/2026 and in accordance with the Party’s Constitution, Guidelines and other relevant internal arrangements.
“All eligible party members, aspirants, observers, stakeholders and the media are hereby invited to be present and observe the process. The media are particularly encouraged to provide fair, accurate and objective coverage in the interest of transparency and credibility,” part of the statement read.
The chairman appealed to all stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully, refrain from acts capable of disrupting the process, and cooperate with the duly appointed Primary Election.
