APR (278470.KS) said on the 19th that its beauty brand Medicube entered about 400 Costco stores in the United States this month. The company also completed rollouts at all Costco locations in South Korea during the same month and plans to expand to every Costco store in the U.S.
With the launch, APR introduced Medicube's flagship Zero Pore Pad as a Costco-exclusive product. The company said the Zero Pore Pad has held the top spot in toner sales on Amazon in the U.S. since February of last year and ranks among the best sellers at major brick-and-mortar retailers there. APR plans to add popular products from its PDRN line to broaden its Costco lineup.
The move widens the range of major U.S. retail channels Medicube has secured. APR entered about 1,400 Ulta Beauty stores in August last year, followed by more than 1,500 Target stores in April and about 3,000 Walmart stores in June. First-half sales in North America reached 647.9 billion won ($451 million), up more than 260% from a year earlier.
The brand will also enter about 3,000 stores of U.S. drugstore chain CVS Pharmacy within the year, with phased expansion into Costco locations in Canada and Europe planned afterward.
"We expect the Costco launch to widen the points of contact where consumers can encounter Medicube and to steadily expand our sales base across major retail channels," an APR official said. "We will continue to grow large retailers and regional local channels in a balanced way to strengthen our distribution competitiveness on the ground."
