POCHEON — Terra Fantasia, the signature nighttime attraction along the Hantan River in Pocheon, is dressing up for Halloween to greet autumn visitors. The city plans to layer Halloween's offbeat atmosphere onto the site's elaborate media art of light, video and music, transforming the Hantan River area into a fantastical night festival.
Pocheon, in Gyeonggi Province, said on the 22nd that it will hold the Terra Fantasia Halloween special event along the Hantan River from Oct. 23 to Oct. 31. The event is designed to give families, couples and groups of friends visiting the river this fall a memorable night out.
Terra Fantasia is a 2.5-kilometer walking course of nighttime media art that starts at the Hantan River Sky Bridge and runs through Madang Bridge, the ecological landscape complex, the Y-shaped suspension bridge and Bidulginang Falls. The roughly 90-minute route features spectacles including "Volcano of Light," an oversized media facade show set against the river's scenery.
During the event, Halloween-themed props and decorations will be installed along the entire walking route, striking an unfamiliar contrast with the existing media art.
Hands-on activities and giveaways are also planned. A pumpkin lantern workshop will run on the plaza at the Sky Bridge for five days, from the 23rd to the 25th and from the 30th to the 31st. Visitors who come in costume, follow Pocheon's official social media accounts and post a photo taken on site will receive limited-edition Halloween photo cards on a first-come, first-served basis.
The attraction operates daily except for its regular Monday and Tuesday closures, with the media art and Halloween-themed spaces open as usual on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
"This event maximizes the appeal of the Hantan River by adding the distinctive concept of Halloween to Terra Fantasia's striking media art," a Pocheon city official said. "We hope many people will visit and enjoy the river at night as autumn deepens."
