ABB will acquire a 51 percent controlling stake in the new company. The investment is expected to cost 79 billion Japanese yen (approximately SEK 4.9 billion).
“The joint venture will give ABB a significantly stronger position in electrification in Japan and increased access to key growth markets in Asia Pacific,” ABB writes.
“The transaction, which gives ABB the opportunity to acquire full ownership in the medium term, is expected to close in the second half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions,” the company added.
The announcement comes alongside ABB’s interim report for the third quarter.
