New Delhi, October 20: The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) here has developed an electronic device which could help busy executives get their engagements announced at the appropriate time.
Called “Electronic Secretary”, the device is attached to a cassette tape-recorder which is used to record the details of engagements fixed by the executive for the day.
It helps avoid engagement diaries which the executives have to go through frequently. Personal secretaries need not remind their bosses frequently about appointments.
The device could be used to pre-record all the details of a person’s engagements for a number of days sequentially.
The device, which is programmable, then gives commands to the tape-recorder for making different announcements at different times of the day. It would, therefore, be possible to listen to all the details of the engagements just before the engagement time.
Although engagements of several days are recorded in advance, the device has to be programmed every day to make announcements at different times.
There is also provision in the device to recall any particular information of any particular day and make instant modification. The device displays both time and date.
