DIMAPUR: The NSS unit of MGM College organised “Yuva Sanwad- Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat” under the theme “My Health, My Pride” as part of Week 4 of the 100 Week Sankalp Abhiyan at its adopted village Kashiram on October 9. The campaign was aimed at creating awareness among young people about the harmful effects of substance use and encouraging them to make healthy, responsible and positive choices.
The Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan, launched by the Prime Minister on August 2, 2026, is a 100 week national movement built on four pillars-Prevent, Protect, Recover and Lead. MY Bharat–NSS is carrying the Abhiyan into campuses and adopted villages, combining the Nasha Mukt message with the NSS ethos of “Not Me, But You.” Dimapur Municipal Council councillor I. Sentinuklu Jamir, who graced the programme as chief guest, emphasised the importance of collective efforts in empowering youth to lead addiction free lives and build a better society.
Neimhanu Kulnu, psychiatric social worker at District Hospital Dimapur, served as keynote speaker. She cautioned that substance use often begins with the thought, “Just try it, nothing will happen,” but can eventually become life threatening. Urging the gathering to “Say No to Drugs, Not No to Life,” she stressed the importance of protecting mental health and supporting individuals struggling with addiction without stigma, encouraging them to seek professional help.
The programme featured a youth led interactive dialogue where students and youth shared concerns about substance use and advocated for an addiction free society. Dr. A. Temsuyanger, nodal officer of the Dimapur Mental Health Programme and consultant psychiatrist at District Hospital Dimapur, led an engaging session on addiction and mental health, addressing questions raised by students.
NSS volunteers of MGM also performed a street play on “Nasha Mukt Yuva,” spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of a drug free youth.
