ISLAMABAD – Pakistan will launch a sub-national polio vaccination campaign from November 2 to 8 across 97 selected districts, targeting more than 23.9 million children under the age of five, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
During the week-long campaign, frontline polio workers will visit households door-to-door to administer two drops of the polio vaccine to every child under five years of age.
In Punjab, more than 9.278 million children will receive polio drops across 13 selected districts. In Sindh, the campaign will target over 6.883 million children in 20 districts, while more than 4.808 million children will be vaccinated in 27 selected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Balochistan, over 2.217 million children will receive the vaccine across 31 selected districts. The campaign will also cover Islamabad, where more than 447,000 children are expected to be vaccinated.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, over 153,000 children will receive polio drops in three selected districts, while the campaign will target more than 183,000 children in two selected districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The National EOC has urged parents and caregivers to cooperate fully with vaccination teams and ensure that every eligible child receives the vaccine during the campaign.
The centre emphasised that providing children with a polio-free future is a shared national responsibility. It called on families to support frontline workers and ensure that no child under five misses the opportunity to receive the required vaccine drops.
