After Micah Parsons called out Commanders QB Jayden Daniels for their overtime mistake, Skip Bayless has jumped to his defence.
The Washington Commanders’ horrible clock management against the New York Giants cost them an easy opportunity to win the game. Jayden Daniels took a sack instead of spiking the ball or throwing it away, which allowed the clock to run out and did not let them get a field goal attempt.
Head coach Dan Quinn took responsibility for the error following the game, and his quarterback did the same. But Micah Parsons laid the blame at Daniels’ feet, claiming his decision could get the coach fired and that he should have known better. Skip Bayless does not agree, and has hit back at Parsons’ take.
Skip Bayless admits Jayden Daniels should have known better, but says Dan Quinn is most to blame
There have not been any concrete reports suggesting that Quinn will lose his job after the tie against the Giants. However, it has certainly put him in the hot seat, considering how unnecessary the mistake was.
Bayless posted on social media to tell Parsons that he was wrong about what he said. He claims that if anyone is to be blamed, it should be the head coach.
“No, Micah, wrong again,” Bayless wrote. “Jayden Daniels didn’t cost Dan Quinn his job. DAN QUINN DID. Strictly his responsibility to intervene, say no, we’re not running another play, we’re going to spike it and kick it now. QB should’ve known better. But HEAD COACH is most to blame.”
Playing the blame game regarding an issue like this is unlikely to yield any meaningful results. If the Commanders are to ensure that something like this does not happen again, then the HC and his quarterback will have to get on the same wavelength as fast as they can.
