U.S. evaluates military support for Saudi Arabia after airport strikes
Speaking to reporters outside the White House, President Trump confirmed that American officials are reviewing requests for defense assistance.
When asked if U.S. forces would join Saudi Arabian operations against the Houthis, Trump stated, “We may. We’re going to look at it,” adding, “We just found out about the recent attack. So, we’ll make a decision. We move very quickly”.
Saudi diplomats have called for urgent defense support from Washington to counter the increasing aerial threats.
The repeated assaults on Riyadh's principal airport caused significant devastation, with aviation officials reporting multiple casualties and hundreds of injuries over consecutive days of missile and drone bombardments.
CBNC reported that Colonel Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan), described the assault as a “war crime”.
He declared that “the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will respond decisively to this terrorist attack in accordance with the Customary International Humanitarian Law”.
Egypt and regional partners condemn Yemen Houthi escalation
It is worth noting that a bloc of Middle Eastern nations including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan released a joint statement firmly denouncing the Yemen-based militant group.
The allied governments collectively characterized the assault on the international airport as a “dangerous escalation that cannot be justified or accepted under any pretext”.
Placing full responsibility on the Houthi leadership for jeopardizing international peace and aviation safety, the joint coalition demanded the “immediate and unconditional halt of these attacks”.
The member states reaffirmed their solidarity with Saudi Arabia and pledged support for measures aimed at protecting regional stability and deterring further hostilities.
