Algorfa residents can support three good causes over the coming months, with community events ranging from a charity quiz and country music night to a Christmas collection for children in care. Silverstones in Montebello will host two fundraising evenings supporting local charities, while Hotel Algorfa is calling for donations to help make Christmas special for children at the San Jose Obrero children’s home.
Charity quiz supports people with neurological conditions
Quiz fans can put their general knowledge to the test while supporting a Costa Blanca charity at a fundraising evening in Algorfa on Saturday, October 24.
The Fun Quiz Night takes place at Silverstones Bistro Bar in Montebello, with proceeds supporting the Association of Movers and Shakers Costa Blanca.
The charity helps people affected by neurological conditions including Huntington’s disease, motor neurone disease, ataxia, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
Tickets cost €15 and include fish and chips as well as entry to the quiz. Supper will be served at 7:00 PM, with the questions beginning at 8:00 PM.
Teams are encouraged to book tables of six, although anyone interested in taking part should contact the organisers for availability. Advance booking is essential.
The Association of Movers and Shakers Costa Blanca provides support for people living with neurological conditions and works to improve awareness and understanding of the challenges they can bring.
The quiz offers supporters a social evening while helping the organisation continue its work within the local community.

Hotel Algorfa launches Christmas gift appeal
Christmas preparations are already under way at Hotel Algorfa, which is once again collecting gifts for children supported by the San Jose Obrero children’s home.
Following last year’s appeal, when organisers were able to provide presents for every child, the hotel is asking the local community to help repeat that achievement this Christmas.
Donations of new clothing and toiletries are particularly welcome. Suggested clothing includes tops, trousers, jumpers, jackets and shoes, giving supporters several practical ways to contribute.
Anyone wishing to donate clothing should contact Hotel Algorfa before buying items. The hotel can provide the names, ages and sizes of children, helping donors choose suitable presents and ensuring contributions match what is actually needed.
The appeal will remain open until Friday, December 18, giving residents plenty of time to take part in the Christmas collection.
Hotel Algorfa thanked everyone who supported last year’s campaign and is hoping for another strong community response this year so that every child can receive presents during the festive season.
Donations can be taken to Hotel Algorfa, Calle Pablo Picasso 1, Algorfa, 03169.
For children’s names, ages and clothing sizes, or further information about what is needed, contact the hotel directly on (+34) 966 729 707.
Country music night raises funds for A Helping Hand
Country music fans can saddle up for a charity night at Silverstones 2023 in Montebello, Algorfa, on Saturday, November 21, when The Enthusiasticals perform in support of A Helping Hand.
The evening will feature a full programme of country music, with guests invited to arrive from 6:30 PM before the show begins at 7:00 PM. Tickets cost just €5 per person, with all proceeds going directly to the charity.
A Helping Hand Costa Blanca is run by volunteers and provides practical assistance to people experiencing hardship in Torrevieja and surrounding communities. Its work includes distributing donated food, clothing and other essentials to people who need additional support.
There will also be a charity raffle, with tickets already on sale and a selection of prizes to be drawn during the evening.
Guests can add a fish and chips supper for €7.50, served with garden peas, bread and butter. Meals must be ordered when purchasing the event ticket and will be available until 8:30 PM.
Silverstones is a popular bar and entertainment venue in the Montebello urbanisation of Algorfa, making the fundraiser easily accessible for residents across the Vega Baja and Orihuela Costa.
Tickets can be purchased directly from The Enthusiasticals or at Silverstones.
For bookings and further information, contact Silverstones on (+34) 711 025 419.
