Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, saying that the administration needs more than four years to achieve the intended results of its reforms.
Adeleke spoke on Wednesday at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, where he pledged to mobilise support for the President’s re-election.
The governor, an Accord Party member, said his support was based on the need to allow the reform programme more time.
“We must give our father, the President of this nation, time for his reform to work. It’s not easy. Four years is not enough. That is why I’m here to throw my weight,” he said.
Expressing confidence in Tinubu’s electoral prospects, Adeleke said supporters would pursue an energetic campaign to return him to office.
“Nobody can stop this movement. We’re going to sing, we’re going to dance all the way back to Aso Rock,” he said.
The governor urged campaigners to begin practical mobilisation immediately, saying he had already commenced his own efforts.
“We don’t have time. The work has begun. I’ve already started mine. Let us rise and make sure our president comes back for the second time,” he said.
Adeleke also called for prayers for Tinubu, saying the administration’s success would benefit Nigerians.
“Continue praying for Mr President. If he succeeds, we all succeed. And I know by the special grace of God, we shall get there,” he said.
A revised campaign council list released on Tuesday named Adeleke as Tinubu’s campaign coordinator in Osun state.
The list also assigned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to coordinate the campaign in Rivers State and the FCT, while Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, was included in the council.
