“It is crucial that we work together,” Støre says at a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Stubb.
According to the three leaders, US envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to St. Petersburg on Wednesday for talks with the Russian side, where proposals raised in Oslo will be presented.
Zelenskyy says Ukraine has “clear ideas on how to achieve peace” and suggests a potential trilateral meeting with Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
“We’ll see what Putin has to say about that,” he says.
The Ukrainian president is also asked whether Ukraine is losing the war.
“We are not losing the war. We are losing people. And time,” says Zelenskyy, who, after the recent frosty tone towards the US, emphasized several times that he had received “clear positive signals” from the American side on Tuesday morning.
“We have discussed security guarantees, and I am grateful that the American side says they will be strong. We have different proposals. We mentioned NATO and its Article 5, and similar guarantees. There are other types of guarantees, which Steve (Witkoff) will share with the Russians,” Zelenskyy said.
“We are grateful that intelligence sharing is working again, so that we get advance warning of ballistic missiles. We discussed Starlink and the Patriot systems, and he will come back to that.”
Witkoff himself will not take part in the press conference.
