Thousands of devotees witnessed the sacred Theerthodbhava of the Cauvery at Talacauvery, the river’s birthplace, on Saturday evening.
The holy water emerged from the sacred Theerthakundike at around 7.50 p.m., marking the annual Theerthodbhava on the occasion of Tula Sankramana. A large number of devotees gathered at the temple to witness the sacred moment and seek the blessings of Goddess Cauvery.
The temple premises reverberated with Vedic chants as devotees offered prayers amid religious fervour.
Kodagu district in-charge Minister P.M. Narendra Swamy said he had prayed to Goddess Cauvery to sustain all living beings and ensure prosperity across the State.
Describing the Cauvery as Karnataka’s lifeline, he said the river was vital for agriculture, drinking water supply and livelihoods. Lakhs of farmers depended on its waters for irrigation, he added.
