Is Madison Beer the reason behind Justin Herbert’s struggles? Chargers fans formulate wild theory

What seemed like a season in which they would improve significantly now appears to be the complete opposite. That is the story of the Los Angeles Chargers, even with the arrival of Jim Harbaugh and the presence of Justin Herbert, who is increasingly criticized for his poor performances.

Now the quarterback is once again the target of strong criticism, and a theory has resurfaced suggesting that his new relationship could be the real reason his level of play has dropped.

There is a sector of fans who cannot forget a video from the Chargers’ training camp in which the two can be seen lying on the field, very close together, enjoying a genuine sunny day.

Now internet users and fans are bringing these images back up, saying that the team has not won since the video appeared, currently sitting at a negative 0-5 record, and worse still, with no signs that the season will improve.

A former champion criticized Herbert

Former Super Bowl champion TJ Ward pointed to Madison Beer’s presence in the stands as a possible factor behind Justin Herbert’s slow start to the 2026-27 NFL season.

Ward expanded on his comments during a recent episode of the Speakeasy podcast, where he criticized what he described as Beer’s “extra” reactions when the cameras focused on her during games.

"When you put your personal life in front of the world, it's up for critique. It's up for observation. And like I say all the time, I observe s___. And then I give it back to y'all.

"Has he gotten better or worse since they got together? When you talk about Justin Herbert most of the time this offseason, what is it surrounded around: football or his girlfriend?" Ward asked.

He then added, "Was she not at the game with revealing clothing on? And as soon as the camera got to her, she did a little extra."
