The members of May 17 movement organised a protest, waving black flags against the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in T. Nagar on Sunday.
The Prime Minister visited the city to inaugurate the Phase II Metro Rail project from Poonamallee to Vadapalani and other infrastructure projects.
Speaking at the protest site, the founder of May 17 movement, Thirumurugan Gandhi, said that it was shameful that the Prime Minister Modi has come to flag off the project, which was initiated under the previous DMK government, while also denying funds for the Metro Rail scheme for Coimbatore and Madurai.
More than 50 persons participated in the protest raising slogans condemning the Prime Minister. The police personnel detained them and later released them in the evening.
