DIMAPUR, OCT 24 (NPN): Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has extended support to the Ao Senden’s demand for accountable and functional public healthcare services at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung.
In a press note, CNTC president Hukiye K. Yepthomi and general secretary Akum Pongen stated that access to reliable healthcare was a fundamental right. It, however, said that IMDH, a critical healthcare facility serving Mokokchung and adjoining areas, continued to suffer from administrative apathy, acute shortages of specialist doctors and underutilisation of available infrastructure.
Stating that patients were repeatedly compelled to travel long distances or incur heavy financial burdens to access basic diagnostic and medical services, CNTC said such services should be readily available at a district hospital. The council endorsed the demands put forward by Ao Senden and uregd Health and Family Welfare department to take immediate corrective measures before October 31 deadline. CNTC also urged the government to deploy a qualified specialist radiologist at IMDH without further delay, revoke all staff attachments and ensure that doctors and nurses returned to their designated posts at the hospital. It also called for the immediate operationalisation of the newly constructed Block A to enhance patient care capacity.
Maintaining that the well-being of the people could not be compromised, CNTC reiterated its unwavering support to Ao Senden and affirmed that it would stand with the organisation in any further course of action necessary to secure quality healthcare services for the people of the region.
