NBA legend Carmelo Anthony believes Jaylen Brown is the best two-way player in basketball, placing the Philadelphia 76ers star above the league’s other elite offensive and defensive talents. Anthony’s endorsement comes as Brown prepares for his first season in Philadelphia after the blockbuster trade that sent him from the Boston Celtics to the 76ers.
Anthony praised Brown’s ability to impact games on both ends of the floor, arguing that his defensive capabilities deserve greater recognition.
“Jaylen Brown is the best two-way player in the NBA,” Anthony said, according to comments published by HoopsHype.

The former scoring champion went further, suggesting Brown could compete for one of basketball’s most prestigious defensive honors.
“I think if Wemby wasn’t in the league, [JB] could win defensive player of the year,” Anthony added, referring to San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.
His assessment highlights the growing recognition of Brown’s versatility, particularly after a standout 2025-26 campaign with Boston.
Brown averaged a career-high 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists last season, establishing himself as one of the NBA’s most productive offensive players.
The 2024 NBA Finals MVP also brings championship experience to a Philadelphia roster featuring LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey.
Brown’s arrival has already generated considerable excitement, with the veteran forward expressing his determination to win another championship following his departure from Boston.
Anthony’s comments add another dimension to expectations surrounding Brown’s upcoming campaign. While Wembanyama remains a formidable defensive presence, Anthony believes Brown’s combination of scoring and defensive versatility makes him the league’s premier two-way player.
