The Janata Dal (United) has expelled Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh for six years and cancelled his primary membership with immediate effect for alleged indiscipline and campaigning against the party’s candidate in the recently concluded Bihar Legislative Council elections.
Singh had opposed JD(U)’s official nominee Neeraj Kumar and backed Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh. The party has also recommended his disqualification from the Assembly.
In an order issued by Bihar JD(U) president Umesh Singh Kushwaha, the party accused Singh of repeatedly defying its instructions and using inappropriate and insulting language against its top leadership.
The order also cited his campaigning for another party’s candidate against the JD(U) nominee as a reason for the action.
Former MLA and his wife, Neelam Devi, has also been expelled for six years, with her primary membership cancelled with immediate effect.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
