The Las Vegas Raiders won't have to face a familiar opponent Sunday when the Los Angeles Rams visit Allegiant Stadium.
Former Raiders star Davante Adams will miss his anticipated return to Las Vegas after suffering a ruptured hamstring during Sunday's 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Rams coach Sean McVay confirmed Monday that Adams is expected to miss six to 10 weeks, according to the team's official injury update.
Adams, 33, spent parts of three seasons with the Raiders after arriving in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers in 2022. He was traded to the New York Jets during the 2024 season before joining the Rams.
Sunday's game would have marked his first appearance against the Raiders since leaving Las Vegas.
Adams had been one of the Rams' most productive offensive players this season, catching 30 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns through six games.
His absence is another significant setback for Los Angeles, which has struggled to a 2-4 start.
Adams isn't the only key player the Rams will be missing Sunday.
Defensive tackle Poona Ford suffered a ruptured triceps against Arizona and will miss the remainder of the season.
Fellow defensive lineman Kobie Turner sustained a groin injury and is expected to miss several weeks. McVay indicated Turner is likely headed to injured reserve.
Outside linebacker Myles Garrett remains on injured reserve following knee surgery. McVay said the Rams will not open his practice window this week, ruling out a return against Las Vegas.
The Rams also lost kicker Blake Grupe to a season-ending torn ACL, while cornerback Trent McDuffie's status remains uncertain because of a groin injury.
Those defensive absences could provide an opportunity for a Raiders offense that showed signs of improvement despite Sunday's 33-30 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns against Buffalo, while Tre Tucker caught two touchdown passes.
Las Vegas also received encouraging contributions from tight end Michael Mayer and rookie running back Mike Washington Jr., who were among the Raiders' notable performers against the Bills.
With Ford, Turner and Garrett unavailable, the Raiders could have an easier time establishing their running game and protecting Cousins.
However, Las Vegas has its own problems to address.
The Raiders have lost three consecutive games after opening the season 3-0, and their defense has struggled to stop opposing offenses.
Los Angeles will arrive in Las Vegas with several important players unavailable, giving the Raiders an opportunity to end their losing streak against an injury-depleted opponent.
