From 10 November, Ryanair will start implementing new rules for bag drops, requiring passengers to do it 60 minutes before the flight, instead of the 40 minutes in advance already established by the company.
Ryanair assures that the new rules will allow travellers to have more time to clear security and passport control, reducing the risk of missing their flights due to airport delays.
Dara Brady, Chief Marketing Officer at Ryanair, mentioned that the new measure will allow 20% of customers, those who check in a bag, more time to deal with the mandatory processes that sometimes may be delayed due to operations at the airport, namely security and passport queues.
Self-service bag-drop
These changes come at a time when Ryanair started rolling out self-service bag-drop kiosks, which, in October, will be available in more than 95% of the company’s airports.
The company states that this infrastructure allows a quicker bag-drop service, avoiding queues and promoting a more punctual service for the 20% of passengers who check in a bag. The self-bag-drop service will be available on Ryanair’s app.
