Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Miami Heat have now suffered three consecutive losses to start the season, and NBA fans aren’t impressed at all.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s move to the Miami Heat came with much fanfare. Suggestions that Giannis’ intense attitude would fit well with ‘Heat Culture’ had many fans excited to see what would happen. So far, it has been nothing short of a massive disappointment.
On Saturday night, the Heat played their third game of the 2026-27 NBA season. Their first two had resulted in losses against the Timberwolves and Pistons, both contending teams. A win was expected against the Charlotte Hornets, but a 115-110 loss has led to some severe criticism from fans.
NBA fans think Giannis Antetokounmpo made the wrong choice after terrible start
Antetokounmpo’s departure from Milwaukee was a drawn out saga. The Heat had been one of his most prominent suitors throughout that entire time. However, the start to his South Beach career so far has looked eerily similar to the situation he left behind.
During the team’s first two losses, Giannis averaged 35.5 points and 9.0 rebounds, but they couldn’t manage to win. Against the Hornets, Antetokounmpo had a horrible game by his standards, and that led to a narrow loss. Overall, fans online were quick to let him know he may have gotten this wrong.
“He should have just stayed with Milwaukee, how is this any better?” asked one fan. “Let’s be real, this new-look Heat is NOT it. You trade for Giannis and start 0-3, and lose to a Hornets team? Embarrassing,” a second fan said. “I smell a players only meeting coming real soon,” a third fan claimed.
“Heat forgot Giannis can’t play by himself. He needs help,” a fourth comment read. “It looks like Giannis has already given up on this team,” a fifth fan said. “Glad it’s still preseason, we’ll be ready for opening night Monday,” a Heat fan hilariously said.
The alarm bells are ringing in Miami, they need to figure this situation out, and soon. An 0-3 start is far from ideal, but it also isn’t insurmountable. Erik Spoelstra, Giannis, and Bam Adebayo need to come together and turn this around before the criticism turns into flat-out ridicule.
