Together with Hjalmar Östman, Jonas Stentäpp stayed away from the scouts on TV4’s big weekend entertainment show for two seasons, in 1997 and 1998, and became popular in the process.
Jonas Stentäpp became known as “Heavy” to much of the Swedish public and was also able to benefit from that in his music career. He played in the punk bands Mimikry and Dökött, and also released three albums with his bandmate Hjalmar Östman, which sold several hundred thousand copies in total. Their first album topped the sales chart, and the duo also toured folk parks.
Jonas Stentäpp worked as a journalist for many years at Dala-Demokraten, where he was editor of the entertainment section. He later became a well-known figure in newspaper group Mittmedia’s major effort to broadcast the folk racing event on television.
Jonas Stentäpp had cancer and died in Falun on Thursday. He was 50.
