10 goats killed as wall collapses in rain-hit Sivaganga district

In a tragic incident, 10 goats were reportedly killed on the spot, when a wall collapsed in the wee hours following incessant rain on Thursday.

Police said that Gopu, 47, lived in Thuhavoor near Illayankudi in Sivaganga district. On Wednesday night, he was sleeping in his dwelling with 10 goats inside the house. When he had gone out in the early morning to attend nature’s call, the wall suddenly collapsed, in which all the 10 goats died.

The district experienced continuous rainfall and Manamadurai accounted for 16 mm, Sivaganga: 10, Illayankudi: 11 and Kalayarkoil recorded 8.4. Overall, the district reported 53 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours ending 6 a.m. on Thursday.
