It’s a dog’s life!
Supporters of a Democratic congressional candidate who was revealed as a former fetish gear model are leaning into his spicy past to promote him with voters.
Chris Gallant, 37, who’s running against Long Island Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY) in the upcoming elections, once appeared in images for “Mr. S Leather,” a San Francisco-based purveyor of fetish supplies, wearing collars, leather straps, neoprene, bondage gear, and more.
When the images made national headlines, Gallant — a Black Hawk helicopter pilot and volunteer firefighter who’s served in the Army National Guard since 2006 — then doubled down on his past and told the NY Times in an interview: “I make Christian Grey look like amateur hour.”
As Election Day approaches, his Democratic supporters were left Googling and learning some new racy terms when they received a mailer for Gallant that said, “Washington has gone to the attack dogs. It’s time for Long Island to send a Good Boy to Congress.” (With “Good Boy” in bold.)
The back of the card had an image of a dog tag, as well as a dog collar with a heart, touting that the candidate is “Loyal, Trained, Comes When Called” and “Guards Home,” along with his accomplishments like enlisting as an Army pilot at 17.
The card also showed a pic of the candidate in a tight black T-shirt and jeans.
Said one shocked Dem insider — who’s voting for Gallant, “I had to look it up when I got the mailer, but ‘Good Boy’ means someone who’s obedient in bondage… it’s sex slang.”
While the source said it wouldn’t change their vote, “It doesn’t really help his cause in suburban Suffolk County!”
The mailer was sent from a PAC called Knock Every Door, which we hear is supporting Gallant. His press rep did not get back to us.
(Gallant’s lawyer had previously said of the old leather daddy photos: ““The photographs are authentic and were taken during a private, consensual photo session involving Chris and his then-partner, with whom he was in a committed four-year relationship… Chris was also friends with the owner of Mr. S Leather, and the shoot was intended to be fun and personal, with the understanding that Mr. S could use select images in connection with certain products.”
Well, at least now we all know where to go holiday shopping.
