In recent years, the Miami Dolphins have sold small portions of their team to different individuals and ownership groups to continue spending and making money on the franchise and its associated ventures and buildings.
On Friday, principal owner Stephen Ross sold a small minority stake in the team to Jean Eric Salata, which adds another person to their growing list of owners.
Let's take this opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with all of the Dolphins' owners.
Stephen Ross
Ross is a real estate developer who purchased 95% of the Dolphins from Wayne Huizenga in 2009 at a $1.1 billion valuation. Since owning the team, he's sold slivers of the franchise to other wealthy, influential people and groups.
Ares Management

In 2024, Ross sold a 10% stake in the Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium and the F1 Miami Grand Prix to Ares Management. The company was founded in 1997 by Antony Ressler, who also owns the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, and several others.
Jean Eric Salata

Salata purchased a 2.1% stake in the team this week. The sale is barring approval. He currently serves as the chairman of EQT AB (a Swedish global investment organization) and the founder of Baring Private Equity Asia. The Chilean businessman was named the second-richest person in Chile in 2023.
Lin Bin

Bin purchased a 1% minority stake in the team in March. He is the co-founder and vice chairman of Xiaomi, the Chinese multinational technology company.
Joe Tsai/Oliver Weisberg

Tsai and Weisberg combined to purchase a 3% stake in December 2024. Tsai, the co-founder and chairman of Alibaba Group, is also the owner of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets and WNBA's New York Liberty. Weisberg is president of J Tsai Sports.
Gloria/Emilio Estefan

The Estefans are Cuban-American musicians. They bought a minority stake in the team in 2009, shortly after Ross became majority owner. The pair have combined for 24 Grammy Awards in their careers.
Serena/Venus Williams

The Williams sisters are considered two of the greatest tennis players of all time. Serena is a seven-time major singles champion and Serena is a 23-time major singles champion. They also won 14 doubles titles together. They purchased minority stakes in the Dolphins in 2009, becoming the first African-American women to obtain ownership in an NFL team.
Marc Anthony

Anthony also purchased a minority share in the club in 2009. He's a four-time Grammy Award winner and eight-time Latin Grammy Award winner.
Fergie

Fergie is a singer/songwriter who has won eight Grammy Awards during her solo career and time with the Black Eyed Peas. She purchased a minority stake in 2009.
