On October 13, President Edgars Rinkēvičs will receive the new President of the Republic of Estonia, Dr. Ülle Madise, on a working visit to the Republic of Latvia.
The familiarization visit to Latvia is her first foreign visit as President, and therefore a singular honour for Latvia.
The press conference following the talks between the Latvian and Estonian delegations is scheduled to begin at 4:40 p.m.
The talks between the two neighbours at Rīga Castle were intended to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between Latvia and Estonia, especially cooperation in the economy and between the defence industries.
It was also planned to discuss Baltic and broader regional cooperation in security and defence, including strengthening NATO's eastern flank and countering hybrid threats, as well as military, political and economic support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
