An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday granted police a further nine-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shabbir Gujar in the May 9 Jinnah House attack case. Duty Judge Manzer Ali Gill passed the order after hearing arguments from both sides. The court directed police to produce the accused again on October 28. Police produced Gujar before the court after completing his previous 21-day physical remand and sought further custody for interrogation. The investigating officer told the court that Gujar had been identified during an identification parade and was allegedly involved in the attack on Jinnah House. The officer requested additional physical remand to complete the investigation. Opposing the request, counsel for Gujjar, Advocate Saleem Lodhi, argued that his client had been arrested after three years in the case. After hearing the arguments, the court granted police a further nine-day physical remand.
