The Visakhapatnam Collector’s office has warned district officials, government employees and the public about a fake WhatsApp account created in the name of Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore to solicit money.
In an official statement, the Collector’s office said an unidentified person was using the Collector’s name and identity to message people and seek money.
The statement urged public and government employees recipients not to respond to the suspicious WhatsApp messages seeking money in the Collector’s name or to transfer any funds. People have also been cautioned against sharing personal information, bank account details or one-time passwords (OTPs) with unknown persons.
The Collector’s office has urged officials, employees and members of the public to remain vigilant and alert others to the suspected fraud.
