The Accounting Paper One proved challenging for Westville High School matric pupils who had to race against time to complete the exam.
Lia Govender from Pinetown described the paper as “challenging yet enjoyable”.
She said the exam was challenging because she was pressed for time, and described some questions as more challenging than others.
“Answering all the questions was a rewarding experience. I love the logic and problem solving that is required in accounting.”
In preparation for the examination, Govender would work through past year examination papers.
She said this helped her overcome the problem areas she experienced.
She plans to pursue a career in mechanical engineering because the job opportunities are vast
compared to other fields.
Govender described her matric year as enjoyable with “ups and downs”.
“I found I managed to cope with the pressures that the year entailed,” she added.
Another pupil, Haley Moodley said the exam was difficult for her.
“The questions were worded in such a way that made things hard. Time management proved difficult. There were too many questions and too little time. I did finish
the examination though,” said Moodley.
Moodley, who is still deciding between studying Law or B.Com General, said it was a busy year and she was sad her time at Westville Girls’ High was almost over.
She enjoyed balancing her school work and the fun school events.
Over 962 000 matric pupils are registered to write the 2026 National Senior Certificate Examinations.
Pupils will write Mathematics Paper 1 tomorrow.
