The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Sunday said it will deploy about 13,084 personnel to maintain public order and safety during the Undas (All Saints' Day) season.
NCRPO Police Lieutenant Colonel Hazel Asilo said the deployed personnel comprise 12,459 personnel from the NCRPO and 625 from its regional support units.
“Ngayon, nakalatag na 'yung deployment, 'yung ating coordination sa ating LGUs. Ganun din 'yung ating security arrangements para sa mga cemetery, transport terminals, at iba pang lugar na inaasahang dadagsain ng ating mga kababayan,” Asilo told Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday.
(The deployment plan is in place, along with coordination with local government units (LGUs) and security arrangements for cemeteries, transport terminals, and other areas expected to draw large crowds.)
Asilo added that she has yet to get the number of deployed personnel from agencies like the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Philippine Coast Guard.
The NCRPO is currently under heightened alert status. It will begin skeletal deployment on October 29 and shift to full alert status at 12:01 a.m. on October 30.
Asilo said the NCRPO is identifying areas where gatherings and traffic congestion are expected and where police presence needs to be increased during the long weekend.
She added that authorities are also assessing whether to extend the full alert status on November 3.
Asilo also warned the public against petty crimes like pickpocketing, disorderly conduct, and fraud schemes.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) earlier said over 111,000 police officers will be deployed during Undas, more than doubling the manpower compared to last year.
Of the deployed cops, 11,782 will be personnel from other units. Meanwhile, 31,814 will be force multipliers, including Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams, PNP advocacy support groups, and local government unit employees who will assist in traffic management.
Aside from cemeteries, there will also be cops stationed at bus terminals and other transportation hubs amid the expected exodus of travelers. Cops will be visible in malls and resorts, the DILG added.
Many Filipinos are expected to go to their hometowns for the Undas break to pay their respects to their departed loved ones.
