The MPSSAA flag football playoffs continued with the start of region semifinals on Thursday, Oct. 22, with a trio of Washington County tams in action. Here's what happened:
2A-1A West I semifinals
Boonsboro 30, Clear Spring 0
Mylee Hartman threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two more, and McKenna Johnson had a TD catch and a long pick-six as the No. 2-seed Warriors (8-2) pulled away from the No. 3 Blazers (5-6).
Hartman's 1-yard TD run gave Boonsboro -- the reigning three-time county champions -- a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Blazers drove inside the Warriors 10-yard line, but Hartman intercepted a Clear Spring pass at the goal line on fourth down, stopping the Blazers' best scoring chance of the game.
Hartman's 10-yard TD strike to Johnson doubled the lead in the second quarter, and Boonsboro made a fourth-down stop on a Brennyn Cronise sack with Clear Spring in Warriors territory to keep the score 12-0 into halftime.
The Blazers marched into the red zone again in the third quarter, but Johnson jumped a pass and took an interception 68 yards untouched up the right sideline to make it 18-0. That was the first of Johnson's two interceptions in the contest.
In the fourth quarter, Hartman added a 35-yard TD pass to Harmony Redding and a 9-yard scoring run.
Boonsboro will either travel to No. 1 Smithsburg or host No. 4 Williamsport for the region final on Oct. 27 or 28. The Leopards host the Wildcats in a semifinal on Oct. 24 at 11 a.m.
