Chelsea vs Tottenham tips
- Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score – 5/6 (Betway)
- Joao Pedro anytime assist – 17/4 (Coral, Ladbrokes)
A massive London derby takes place at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Chelsea have picked up since the international break, posting convincing wins over Bournemouth and Everton. Perhaps most importantly, they finally kept a clean sheet at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last weekend – their first in 23 Premier League games.
They head into this weekend in fourth place and maybe there is still time for Xabi Alonso’s side to revive their title ambitions, especially with Manchester City widely expected to receive a points deduction at some stage this season.
Spurs’ concerns are at the other end of the table, although they moved out of the relegation zone with their first win of the season on Monday – a 3-1 home victory over Coventry.
That game saw James Maddison score on his first start of the season, while Dejan Kulusevski made a welcome return after more than a year out due to injury. Pedro Porro could be back for this one but Rodrigo Bentancur remains suspended.
Chelsea are set to be without keeper Emiliano Martinez, who was stretchered off at Everton having broken his jaw. Mike Penders stands by.
Malo Gusto could return from a recent virus but changes look likely to be minimal given the Blues’ form which has improved since the return of key midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea are odds-on favourite to win the game at 7/10 on betting sites, with Tottenham a best price of 15/4.
Chelsea vs Tottenham prediction 1: Over 2.5 goals & both teams to score
Chelsea’s games have been goal-laden for most of the season – six of seven have seen at least three goals, while five of those have had both teams find the net.
The return of Caicedo has certainly toughened them up a bit defensively, although it’s too early to think that all their issues have been solved.
The Blues’ only game with less than three goals came last weekend but Everton are renowned for taking part in low-scoring games – a trend of many years. Spurs will be more likely to open up and offer greater attacking threat from the start and they should be buoyed by Monday’s opening victory.
Their last four games have seen both teams score and pairing that up with over 2.5 goals looks the way to go on football betting sites.
Tip: Over 2.5 goals & both teams to score – 5/6 (Betway)
Tottenham vs Coventry prediction 2: Joao Pedro anytime assist
Only Erling Haaland has more Premier League goals this season than Joao Pedro and he’ll doubtless be offering a threat on that front again here.
However, bookies are now wary of the Brazilian and offer just a tad above even money in their anytime scorer markets on betting apps.
A value alternative is to back Joao Pedro for an anytime assist.
He’s a considerably bigger price despite having already bagged three this season in this free-scoring Chelsea side, including one in two of the three home games thus far.
With Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers in the vicinity, the striker has players around him capable of making those runs into the box to finish off Chelsea moves and so the assist option on Joao Pedro is intriguing.
Tip: Joao Pedro anytime assist – 17/4 (Coral, Ladbrokes)
