Is there tension between Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on the set of Monday Night Football? The primetime commentary duo has helped restore the luster of the league's most recognizable broadcast. But while Buck has earned a six-year contract extension, Aikman is headed into the final months of his contract with ESPN without clarification on his future.
That reportedly led to an argument between the two prior to the Week 6 broadcast. Aikman hasn't said much on the issue, handling it diplomatically but certainly sounding like someone who doesn't expect to be back next fall. But when he returned to the broadcast Monday night for a showdown between the Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers, well, he didn't seem like a man showing emotion one way or the other.

Aikman stared into the camera, nodded along with Buck's introduction and launched into his own analysis of the game without smiling. There was no over-the-top effort to show he and his longtime booth partner were still buddy-buddy. There was no death glare at the play-by-play half of the duo. Instead, Aikman was professional in the intro before going on to bolster his anti-analytics stance throughout the game.
That last part is a bit wild considering he's a consultant to Miami Dolphins management. But it's also par for the course. Everything seems normal in Week 7 between the ESPN pairing. You can judge for yourself.
