Police have arrested three men accused of demanding Tk50 lakh a month in extortion from Gulshan Society, which manages household waste collection in the area.
The arrestees are Anwar, 30, Md Nazmul, 25, and Zidan Mia, 19.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter today (11 October).

Gulshan Society collects household waste in the area under a work order from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
Recently, several people identifying themselves as members of the Mahabub and Robin groups threatened workers appointed by the society, police said.
They also distributed leaflets of an organisation called Ruby Enterprise, demanding that waste collection payments be made to them, according to police.
On 6 October, a group of armed men allegedly entered the Gulshan Society office without authorisation around 3:30pm, verbally abused staff and threatened to kill them. They also demanded Tk50 lakh a month in extortion, police said.
Deputy Commissioner Akhtar said investigators identified those involved by examining CCTV footage from the scene and nearby areas and using technology. The three suspects were later arrested.
A case has been filed with Gulshan Police Station over the incident, he said.
