From 19 October to 1 November, officials from the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland will assist the State Border Guard in monitoring the Latvian–Belarusian state border, the Latvian State Border Guard said in a statement.
Polish border guard officers will provide their Latvian colleagues with theoretical and practical support in the field of border surveillance, sharing their professional experience and knowledge. This cooperation will facilitate the exchange of experience between the border guard services of both countries and strengthen cooperation in carrying out border surveillance tasks.
The involvement of Polish border guard experts is based on the agreement on cross-border cooperation between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland, signed on 2 October this year.
This year, as part of this bilateral cooperation, officials from the Finnish, Estonian and Lithuanian border guards also provided support to Latvian border guards.
