It was February 25th, 2026. While high-ranking U.S. officials were leaking information about contacts with representatives of the Cuban government in Saint Kitts and Nevis—coinciding with plenary sessions of the CARICOM-U.S. Summit held at the same hotel—the State Department was urging Caribbean leaders to abandon Cuban medical cooperation and join in plans to topple the "Havana regime."
That same day, Cuban authorities intercepted a terrorist infiltration team—ten heavily armed men arriving from Florida, prepared to carry out acts of violence and sabotage—while the organizers and financiers of this operation enjoyed total impunity on U.S. soil.
These are neither coincidences nor isolated events. They appear to be scenes from the same deceptive, suffocating, and treacherous script—a hallmark of the "coercive diplomacy" currently in vogue in Washington. It is part of a scheme orchestrated by a sinister group serving the Miami mafia, which is hell-bent on recolonization and restoring its dominion over Havana through sanctions, escalations, threats, ultimatums, and war preparations.
Lately, there has been a barrage of lies—including the revival of the bogus "acoustic incidents"—pulled from a sleeve to wipe out any remaining vestige of positive bilateral relations, or any mechanism for cooperation and civilized engagement. More than 20 potential collaborative frameworks—which would even contribute to regional security and the security of both nations—remain frozen by the State Department, with no response given to Cuba’s proposals. Instead of the serious path of dialogue and respectful negotiation, the approach taken relies on constant verbal attacks against the government, the political system, leaders, officials, and institutions—along with the tired notion of a "failed state" on the verge of collapse. This ignores the unscrupulous war being waged—rightly characterized as a form of collective punishment, akin to fascist practice—which aims at a silent genocide, seeking to bring the Cuban people to their knees through hunger and despair, or to use them as an instrument for destabilization.
Alongside the use of fallacies to demonize Cuba and magnify non-existent dangers or threats, the U.S. State Department is spearheading a crusade against the Cuban-sponsored resolution to end the blockade—which will be put to a vote at the UN on October 28th. This effort involves a range of tactics, including meetings, pressure, blackmail, and threats. Simultaneously, the State Department continues to foster a dark, conspiratorial atmosphere aimed at discrediting Cuban medical cooperation—an initiative that has saved millions of lives in the most remote corners of the globe, most often without charging a single cent.
In this inhumane endeavor, they exploit every opportunity—from diplomatic tours and intimidating phone calls to heads of state, to unbridled diatribes by officials and spokespersons, or the context of the UN General Assembly—to orchestrate specific actions. They condition the provision of aid, business opportunities, and positive relations on the expulsion of Cuban medical missions, the severing of diplomatic ties, or the closure of embassies.
The goal is to destroy Cuba, plunge it into misery, and present it to the world as a failed, isolated project—now brought to its knees before an all-powerful imperial master. This master, hungry for Cuba’s wealth, seeks to send a global message: that through this massive, genocidal campaign, it has successfully reclaimed its hemispheric hegemony, proving that seven decades of relentless aggression were not in vain.
Is this a case of double standards, or merely a disingenuous pretense of a willingness to engage in dialogue with Cuba?
