Colombo,Oct. 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Meteorology Department has forecast heavy rainfall of 100–150 mm in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces.
The Department said showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance persisting in the Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka.
It also warned that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely in several areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North Western and Southern provinces.
Temporary localised strong winds may also occur during thundershowers, the Department added.
