This Hall Effect gamepad with back paddles just hit a low $35 right now

Retro controllers have made a massive comeback, and the 8BitDo Pro 2 remains one of the best ways to play your classic library without worrying about stick drift. The D-pad is optimized for a retro gaming feel, and you also get Hall Effect joysticks to ensure accurate control for a long time. The textured grip design makes it comfortable for long sessions and right now, you can grab the 8BitDo Pro 2 for just $38 on Amazon. That price is 24% below the usual retail price of $50, which comes pretty close to the lowest we've seen.

What's great about the 8BitDo Pro 2?

The controller connects via Bluetooth or USB-C and lets you toggle between modes with a switch on the back. You can pair it with your PC, Switch, or phone and switch over instantly without re-pairing every time. It supports up to three custom profiles, so you can switch between your retro setup and a modern game configuration with a quick hold of the profile button.

What makes this controller stand out is the Hall Effect sticks, which use magnetic sensing instead of potentiometers to eliminate stick drift. It also includes two pro-level back paddles for mapped actions, and a 1000mAh battery that lasts around 20 hours per charge. You get Bluetooth connectivity, wired USB-C compatibility, and support for Switch, Windows, macOS, Android, and the Switch 2 after a firmware update.

You'll also need the 8BitDo Ultimate Software to customize the back paddles, vibration intensity, and stick sensitivity, which is available on PC, macOS, and mobile apps. Bluetooth range reaches up to 10 meters, though you'll get the best performance within 5 meters.

This is a solid price for a controller with Hall Effect sticks and back paddles, so it's worth picking one up if you want to upgrade your retro setup before the deal ends.
