Amazon is set to launch new Kindle e-readers next week, but first, it’s giving its reading subscription an upgrade: a new name.
Meet Kindle+.
Nothing is actually changing about the subscription program beyond the name, but here’s what you need to know about Kindle+, formerly known as Kindle Unlimited.
Did Kindle Unlimited change? What is Kindle+?
Kindle Unlimited didn’t really change. Kindle+ is essentially Kindle Unlimited, rebranded.
What is that, though?
Kindle+ is a subscription-based service from Amazon that gives readers access to over millions of e-book titles for one low monthly price.a If you read just two K+ books a month, the subscription pays for itself.
What do you get with Kindle+?
Kindle+ subscribers get access to millions of books in the Kindle+ library. You can also listen to select audiobooks and read magazines with your subscription.
It operates similarly to a regular library; subscribers can borrow up to 20 books at a time. Borrowed e-books can be read on Kindle e-readers or with the Kindle app on smartphones and tablets.
Kindle+ price
Kindle+ costs $11.99/month after a 30-day free trial. The price has not increased with the name change.
Does Kindle+ have audiobooks?
Yes! Select Kindle+ titles also include the audiobook, making it easy to switch between formats. To find books that include both formats, you’ll want to look for this symbol, circled below in red.

Is Kindle+ worth it?
If you’re an avid reader, yes, Kindle+ is worth it!
If you’re trying to get back into reading, also yes!
We say this, though, with the caveat that it all depends on what genres you like to read. Romance and thriller readers will likely get the most out of Kindle Unlimited due to the library being very romance-and-thriller-heavy, but with some digging into the catalog, it’s possible every kind of reader will find something to love on Kindle Unlimited.
