The police at Edavanna arrested a man who had been absconding after allegedly raping a minor girl in the name of treatment. The accused is Jasal Jilani Thangal, 35, of Kunduthodu, Edavanna. He was produced before the court and was remanded in judicial custody.
According to the police, the incident took place in April. The accused reportedly called the girl and her mother to his house at Kunduthodu, claiming he could cure the girl’s chronic stomach ache. He then allegedly assaulted the girl under the guise of treatment.
He had been absconding since August.
A police team arrested him from Aanakallu on the Kasaragod-Karnataka border. A detailed investigation is under way.
