PUTRAJAYA: Former Yayasan Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin spent about two hours at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters.
Nazir was called in to receive a notice under Section 36 of the MACC Act 2009, which requires individuals to declare their assets.
He told reporters that his legal team had filed an injunction application at the Kuala Lumpur High Court yesterday to challenge the notice and prevent the MACC from enforcing it.
He said he could be arrested by the MACC despite the pending application and urged the commission to respect the legal process.
On Oct 1, the MACC remanded two corporate figures, brothers in their 40s and 50s who hold the titles Datuk Seri and Datuk Wira, for five days to assist investigations into alleged collusion and abuse of power involving an investment worth about RM10 million.
Initial investigations found that the brothers were suspected of colluding with an officer of an education-based foundation to approve an investment in a company owned by the elder brother in 2020.
