The charge sheet in the murder case of Ishayat Shahriar Oprotim will be filed within the next two to three days, Cumilla Superintendent of Police Md Anisuzzaman told journalists on Saturday evening.
Oprotim, 13, son of Cumilla University teacher Dr Nahida Begum, went missing and was later found dead in a remote area under Lalmai Hills on September 18.
Three accused in the case -- Saiful Islam Tuhin, 19 and two other boys aged 15 -- already gave confessional statements before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after they were arrested.
After Oprotim went missing, police examined CCTV footage and took Tuhin, who had been seen with him, into custody for questioning. Tuhin reportedly confessed that he took Oprotim to a remote area on the afternoon of September 18 on the pretext of taking photographs and videos with his iPhone, and killed him there to snatch the device.
Based on Tuhin’s statements, the two other accused were later taken into custody, and the phone was recovered. They also confessed to the crime later.
