Two Iranian officials claim that Iran is adopting a strategy to pressure the Trump administration by driving up oil prices ahead of the US midterm elections. Alongside a shift in the nature of attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the risk of attacks across a wider maritime area is also rising. However, the extent of the impact this might have on the US elections remains uncertain.
