Welcome back to Beauty Marks: Vogue’s weekly edition of the best moments in celebrity beauty, from Vogue editors’ IG feeds, and all the glam of the fashion and pop culture landscapes. Each week, we curate the nail art to pin for your next nail appointment, new recruits to ‘Team Bob’, and major red carpet moments from the week’s most glamorous affairs. As always, it’s as much about celebrity beauty as it is about the makeup artists, hairstylists, and nail artists, as well as the creators crafting the trends you’re about to see everywhere.
This week in beauty, it was a tale of two extremes. On one hand, there was a return to the classics: immaculate bobs, neat ponytails, and refined, barely-there makeup moments. On the other, a decidedly more-is-more approach took hold, with technicolor eyes, supersized curls, and lips painted every shade from chocolate brown to crimson red. Kerry Washington and Gemma Chan made the case for understated elegance, while Lauryn Hill and True Whitaker embraced a more experimental streak. Elsewhere, Dua Lipa, Alexa Demie, and Nara Smith found their own sweet spots between the two.

Alexa Demie
Peter Lux swept Alexa Demie’s jet-black hair into a dramatic side part, letting the lengths fall neatly over one shoulder, while Charlotte Prevel brought definition to her gaze with smudged kohl, subtly winged liner, and a wash of earthy brown shadow. A sweep of cinnamon-toned blush beneath the cheekbones and a caramel-nude lip added warmth, which felt like a nod to the beauty signatures of the ’90s that Demie adores.

Tru Whitaker
Jaime Diaz and David Calhoun embraced full-throttle glamour, with a voluminous cascade of tousled layers and wispy, piecey bangs that grazed her brows. The makeup centered on icy, iridescent blue eyeshadow swept across the lids and toward the temples, framed by thick, jet-black feline flicks and inky lower lash lines. A dusting of pink across the cheeks and a shimmering, mauve-brown lip completed the look.

Chelsea Uchenna created an electrifying clash of metallic turquoise eyeshadow for the icon Lauryn Hill, fuchsia pigment swept high onto the temples, and flashes of violet glitter. Kohl-rimmed eyes and lacquered, deep-plum lips heightened the drama, while a sculptural crown of tightly coiled curls brought some avant-garde edge.
